It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Marvin R. Dunn.
Dr. Dunn was instrumental in the establishment and development of the Institute for International Medical Education as a member of the Steering Committee. He also served as the Chairman of the IIME Core Committee, who developed the "Global Minimum Essential Requirements" document.
As Director of the Residency Review Committee Activities for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in Chicago, Dr. Marvin Dunn was a nationally-renowned figure in organized medicine. His esteemed career included the prestigious positions of Director of Graduate Medical Education for the American Medical Association, Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of South Florida, Dean of the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and Acting Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine.
The Institute was quite fortunate to have Dr. Dunn among our distinguished collaborators. His vast experience and leadership capabilities were immeasurable, and certainly a testament to his commitment to the medical profession. The Institute mourns his passing.
